Bridget draws upon her experience as a small business owner, commercial litigator, and general counsel to advise business owners and their families. She provides legal services to small and medium sized businesses that need help on a broad range of matters, including corporate governance, employment, litigation, regulatory compliance, contract drafting, and policy development. She also works with individuals, business owners and their families in developing estate plans and business succession plans that are consistent with their desire to preserve their legacy for their families. Bridget’s estate planning practice includes advising the elderly and their adult children on how to plan for assisted care in a way that enables them to preserve their financial assets and approach their healthcare needs in a way that gives them control and retains their dignity. With regard to estate planning, Bridget can assist you with powers of attorney, wills, special needs trusts, charitable giving trusts, and other trust planning needs.

Prior to founding Papalia Law, Bridget served as the General Counsel to the Kentucky Cabinet for Education and Workforce Development. In that capacity she was responsible for providing counsel and leadership in the enactment and oversight of regulations necessary to support the Cabinet’s delegated administrative responsibilities. She provided the leadership to identify necessary regulatory changes, oversee the stakeholder input process and interface with the legislative committees tasked with reviewing the recommended regulatory actions. Moreover, she was responsible for overseeing the Cabinet’s own regulatory compliance requirements to the Federal Government in support of federal grants and enacting compliance requirements for local agencies using grant funds in the state’s workforce development system under WIOA. In this position she obtained an in depth understanding of the regulatory process and the administrative systems in place to address disputes related to these regulations. She also oversaw the Cabinet’s contracting process, instituting formal contract review protocol, negotiating contract terms, and ensuring governmental procurement requirements were met.
In her private practice of over twenty years, Bridget practiced primarily as a commercial litigator as a Member of the area’s largest regional law firm, focusing on breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims, small and medium sized business disputes, bankruptcy litigation, trademark infringement, trade secrets and non-compete litigation.
EDUCATION, ORGANIZATIONS, COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Bridget completed her undergraduate studies at Wellesley College with a double major in Economics and Political Science, obtained her Masters in Business Administration from Rensellaer Polytechnic Institute, with a concentration in operations, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky. She and her husband are strong supporters of entrepreneurism, owning multiple businesses that they have started from the ground up.
She devotes time to her community by coaching a high school mock trial team and volunteering for mental health non-profit groups and youth sports organizations. Bridget is also active in the Bluegrass Chapter of YPO Gold. For fun, Bridget enjoys gardening, traveling, skiing with her friends and family, and spending time with her husband, three children and two dogs.
